"The Princess"
Claire is in detention for skipping school to go to the mall. She lacked a sense of identity and she had many social expectations from her family and friends. Her mother and father treated her like a princess because they despise each other, so they try to buy her love. Claire’s friends will judge her because she feels that she isn't supposed to associate with Allison, John, or any of them. She is vulnerable, which makes her an adolescent teen, so finding her role in society wasn't important to her, although she hated going along with what everyone else thought, she felt that she had to. On the inside, she is lonely but feels she has to maintain this certain image.
With marijuana in her system, she gets conceded and talks about her popularity, her vulnerability took over her mind. She also feels bad for being a virgin, her emotions are always changing due to puberty, falling under peer pressure is what Claire normally did. She always felt the need for positive regard from others but at the end, she gave Allison a makeover, fell for the bad boy John, and understood where Brian was coming from when he mentioned why they won’t associate outside detention. She stopped caring about what other people thought about her, and she finally felt proud of herself. Not just because she was supposed to be this rich, party going, beautiful prom queen but because she felt like a normal person just like the rest of them.
